How Bitget Funding Settlements Show Up in Your Futures Account Balance
Funding on Bitget perpetuals is settled at fixed times and recorded separately from fees. This review shows where settlements appear, how they affect margin and how to reconcile them.
Bitget | the reader's region | the reader's funding currency | independent comparison and evidence
If you hold perpetual positions on Bitget, you may notice your futures balance change slightly at regular times even when the price barely moved. Those changes are usually funding settlements: payments exchanged between long and short holders to keep the contract price close to the index. Understanding where they appear and how they interact with margin helps you read your account accurately. This review explains settlement timing, where to find the records and how funding affects your available margin.
Settlement timing and eligibility
Bitget settles funding at fixed intervals listed for each contract in its futures documentation. Only positions open at the exact settlement moment pay or receive funding. Opening shortly after a settlement or closing just before one changes whether a payment applies. The contract page shows the next settlement time and the current rate, so you can see in advance whether a planned trade will cross a settlement.
Finding settlements in your records
Funding appears in the futures transaction history as its own entry type, separate from trading fees and realised profit. Filter by that type to see each payment or receipt with its time and amount. Reconciling these entries with your positions over a week shows exactly how much funding has added to or subtracted from your results.
How funding interacts with margin
Funding payments are taken from or added to margin. In isolated mode, payments affect the margin of the specific position, which can move its liquidation price slightly closer over many settlements against you. In cross mode, they affect the shared balance. For long holds, monitor available margin after settlements rather than assuming it stays constant while the price is flat.
Reconciling funding with expectations
Before a long hold, estimate funding by multiplying the expected rate by your notional value and the number of settlements. Each week, compare the actual entries with that estimate. If funding runs persistently above expectations, reassess the position. Include funding alongside fees from the official fee schedule in your trading log so performance figures reflect every cost.
